AGC News
The Department of Labor's new overtime pay rule goes into effect Dec. 1, at which time contractors will likely be forced to reduce workers' hours and benefits, according to several trade groups, including AGC. "The Obama administration has placed yet another burden on contractors that forces them to spend even more of their limited proceeds on compliance instead of compensation," said AGC's Brian Turmail, adding that the group would "pursue legislative corrections."

News You Can Use
In 2014, President Obama directed the Secretary of Labor to update the overtime regulations to reflect the original intent of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and to simplify and modernize the rules so they’re easier for workers and businesses to understand and apply. The department has issued a final rule that will put more money in the pockets of middle class workers—or give them more free time.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration today issued a final rule to modernize injury data collection to better inform workers, employers, the public and OSHA about workplace hazards. With this new rule, OSHA is applying the insights of behavioral economics to improve workplace safety and prevent injuries and illnesses.
AGC Houston member Tony Stergio, Andrews Myers, PC writes about the effect these new regulations will have on employees and employers.
