Responsible Aerodrome Development Phase II
Print this Article | Send to Colleague
Transport Canada is receiving complaints regarding developments and the erection of obstacles around aerodromes, including heliports and helipads, that can adversely affect the safety, functionality and long-term viability of the aerodrome. There is currently no requirement for landowners/developers in the vicinity of an aerodrome to consult, regarding their intent to erect potential obstacles nearby, with the owners/operators of those aerodromes unless there is an Airport Zoning Regulation in place. As a result, aerodrome operators are seeking federal intervention.
Transport Canada seeks to mitigate the concerns brought forward by strengthening guidance material and the introduction of consultation between proponents and aerodrome owners/operators in advance of such undertakings.
Transport Canada has included a Preliminary Issue & Consultation Assessment (PICA) for your review. To view the PICA, please visit the CARAC Activity Reporting system page on Transport Canada's website. We encourage you to provide your comments to HAC by September 25 to fred.jones@h-a-c.ca or directly to Transport Canada by September, 28 2018.
