Orlando, Fla. – (September 9, 2020) – HR Florida State Council (HR Florida) recognized Tammie Eldred, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, District Director for District Two, with its Volunteer of the Year award. This award is announced each year at the annual conference and recognizes a volunteer who actively supports, promotes and develops the human resources profession through volunteerism.

Tammie Eldred was selected by the committee as this year’s distinguished volunteer based on her contributions in supporting HR Florida’s local chapters and individual members. Under her chairmanship of the annual Florida Leadership Conference in 2019 and 2020, she developed a new two-day leadership conference. In 2020, Eldred had to overcome many obstacles in planning the leadership conference due to the impact of COVID-19. Despite these challenges, Eldred has been able to continue to grow the conference by adding supplemental program sessions, keynote speakers and sponsorships, making it one of the largest HR conferences in the state and the nation.

“It’s an honor to be recognized,” said Eldred. “Being involved in this organization has allowed me to help connect colleagues in the HR community throughout the state. I have thoroughly enjoyed my position as chairman for the Leadership Conference over the past two years. This year has been a huge learning experience due to COVID-19, but it has been amazing to see how quickly everyone was able to be agile and adapt as needed.”

Eldred has been a District Director for District Two for nearly five years, which covers the Big Bend SHRM and Bay Country SHRM chapters. She served as the chapter president of Big Bend SHRM in 2015. In 2018, Eldred led the Council’s effort to support Bay County SHRM after the devastating effects of Hurricane Michael. She collected food, supplies and gift cards from various donors, and made sure all materials were delivered to affected parties.

“Eldred has been an instrumental part of HR Florida,” said HR Florida State Council President Heather Deyrieux. “Her leadership and drive have helped the Council tremendously and we are proud to honor her work through this well-deserved recognition.”

Eldred has over 20 years of HR experience and started her own consulting firm – H2HR Solutions – in 2017. The firm works with clients to respond to human resources needs, including audits, recruiting, hiring, termination, performance management, cultural development and more. Once her District Director term expires at the end of 2020, Eldred is committed to continuing her volunteer efforts with HR Florida.
