HR Florida Honors Members & Chapters

HR Florida was happy to recently announce the following awards:

President’s Award – Natasha Slaughter, SHRM-SCP, SPHR; SHRM Jacksonville

This award recognizes one exemplary Chapter President who has significantly impacted the performance of their chapter by leading with a combination of compassion, creativity, and innovation.

Natasha championed strategic partnerships with the Jacksonville Urban League, Association for Talent Development, University of North Florida, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Career Source of Northeast Florida, the Florida Diversity Council, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Natasha also spearheaded SHRM Jacksonville's development of a five-year Strategic Plan setting the board up for long-term success.

Community Impact Award – Sarasota Manatee HR Association (SHRA)

Annually, the HR Florida State Council recognizes one HR Florida Chapter for outstanding achievements with outreach and impact within the community of which they serve.

During the pandemic, the SHRA board pivoted as the roadmap quickly morphed into a new mission, and “serving the HR professional and the extended HR community” became their north star as they adapted to our changing reality. The chapter met the challenge amidst the chaos, confusion, and impact to local businesses and provided real-time HR support to our members and unaffiliated HR professionals that frequently reached out to the chapter for guidance and resources.

Spirit of Patriotism – Jonathan Ross, SHRM-SCP, SPHR; HR Miami

HR Florida honors professionals who support our armed forces. This new award honors an HR resources professional who has supported the Guard and Reserve by educating themselves, their employer, and/or their local SHRM chapter; and has made a positive impact on not only the employees who are part of the Guard, Reserve, and/or spouses of Guard and Reserve members, but also on the organization’s acceptance of the employee’s service to our country.

Jonathan Ross worked with his chapter Greater Miami SHRM (now HR Miami) and the great board volunteers to keep ESGR and the military as a whole a focus of our efforts.

Chapter Excellence Awards

The Chapter Excellence awards focus on the demonstrated achievements and execution of one or more of the following core leadership areas: Diversity, Workforce Readiness, College Relations, Membership, Certification, SHRM Foundation, Legislative Affairs, or ONE outstanding example of chapter leadership. Chapters must demonstrate wisdom, knowledge, transition, achievement, success, inspiration, and change through the execution and accomplishments of one or more of the core leadership areas listed above.

HR Tampa – Workforce Readiness

#HRInspire started as a response to a need that existed in the Tampa Bay community: HR professionals in transition, newcomers to Tampa Bay and transitioning military needed extra support that could not be obtained by the standard chapter programs. The #HRInspire group created a welcoming environment that allowed everyone seeking employment to have mentors, resources, camaraderie, and support.

SHRM Jacksonville – Membership

SHRM Jacksonville started the year off by filming several professional commercials for their Chapter, including commercials focused on Young Professionals and Senior Professionals. The Chapter revamped its communication with members, focusing on a more personalized message and hosted virtual New Member Mixers to connect new members with existing members.

SHRM SWFL, HR Collier, and Charlotte County SHRM – One Outstanding Event

The 19th Tri-County Conference was the first virtual conference in the state. The in-person event made the switch to virtual with only three weeks to prepare. Due to the success of this event, the conference served HR FL's mission of serving, advising and empowering the Florida workplace by having members of chapters throughout the state attend, and sharing ideas and technology solutions with other chapters.
