IIE Scholar Rescue Fund’s James King was recently interviewed by Al-Fanar Media about new universities that are being built in Turkey to teach Syrian refugees. King pointed to the long-term issue of ensuring that degrees earned at these new universities are recognized by Turkish and international bodies, and he stressed the importance of integrating Syrian students within Turkish universities. "The more that Syrians can integrate into the Turkish higher education system, even though that’s politically sensitive," he says, "the more they’re going to be able to sustain themselves long term."
