Jill Biden Speaks about the Importance of International Education at EducationUSA Forum

Dr. Jill Biden, Second Lady of the United States, spoke to over 600 international education professionals at the 2016 EducationUSA Forum, organized by IIE in cooperation with the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She spoke passionately about the importance of international education in building communities around the world. As a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, Dr. Biden highlighted the role of community colleges in educating students from diverse backgrounds and giving them the tools to be who they desire to be. She concluded her speech with a quote from George Washington Carver, who said "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom."
The EducationUSA Forum is an annual event that brings together EducationUSA advisers and U.S. higher education professionals to discuss trends in international student mobility to the U.S. About 600 people from across the U.S. and around the world are participating in this year's Forum in Washington DC.
