Allan Goodman Receives Medal for Outstanding Achievements in International Education

Allan E. Goodman, the President and CEO of the Institute of International Education, received the first-ever Gilbert Medal for Internationalization at a ceremony at Lund University in Sweden. The medal was presented by Universitas 21, an international consortium of leading research universities.
Goodman was recognized for his numerous accomplishments at IIE that have directly fostered and encouraged the internationalization of higher education. In particular, The Gilbert Medal honors Goodman’s role in expanding the Institute’s work in rescuing threatened students and scholars through IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund and advancing academic freedom around the world. Goodman has also been involved in leadership training to prepare new university presidents around the world for their future roles as global academic leaders, and has motivated many university leaders around the world to engage in global partnerships and the internationalization of their institutions.
