APEC: Promoting Cross-Border Education Cooperation

Promoting cross-border higher education cooperation is the aim of one of the four Declarations issued at the 20th APEC Leaders' Meeting that took place in Vladivostok, Russia, from September 8-9, 2012 on the theme Integrate to Grow, Innovate to Prosper. 

In the Declaration, APEC Leaders agree that "strengthening collaboration among APEC economies is crucial for facilitation of the work on specific policies, including those relating to quality assurance, accreditation, cross-border exchange and data collection. Such work will have a significant impact on the education sector in APEC economies."

The Declaration proposes guidelines for enhancing student, researchers and education provider mobility and further developing the existing network of bilateral agreements in this field in the APEC region.
