Fulbright Opportunities to Burma

Burma is emerging from years of isolation and international sanctions and thus is experiencing a knowledge gap in many disciplines. Despite increased openness in the country, many challenges remain.
The Fulbright Program now offers several opportunities for U.S. citizens to engage with Burma.
The
Fulbright Scholar Program offers up to five teaching grants aim to strengthen university programs critical to the development of Burma. Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but applications in the following disciplines are preferred: Agriculture, American Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology, Area Studies, Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, History (non-U.S.), Journalism, Law, Mathematics, Political Science, Public Administration, Public/Global Health, Sociology, Urban Planning. The core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program provides approximately 800 teaching and/or research grants to U.S. faculty and experienced professionals in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Grants are available in over 125 countries worldwide.
The
Fulbright Specialist Program, is designed to provide short-term grant opportunities of 2 to 6 weeks for U.S. faculty and professionals to more than 135 countries worldwide. Project activities engage qualified academics and professionals in Communications and Journalism, Education, Engineering Education, Law, U.S. Studies, and other fields; and focus on strengthening and supporting the needs of higher education institutions in Burma and elsewhere around the world.
The
Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship will allow fellows to serve in professional placements in foreign government ministries or institutions and gain hands-on public sector experience in participating foreign countries while simultaneously carrying out an academic study/research project.
