Boren Awards Fall Webinar Series Begins This Week

The Boren Awards fall webinar series begins this week. In addition, there is still time to register for the two in-person workshops for campus representatives and advisors that we are offering in collaboration with other IIE programs.

The webinars will cover the program preferences, application process, and service requirement. There will also be webinars featuring alumni and representatives of the African Languages Initiative. See the full list of webinars and register at www.borenawards.org/webinars.html

At the in-person workshops listed below, we will summarize the goals of each program, review the application processes, and provide tips on helping students submit competitive applications.

October 30 - New York City, New York

3:30-5:00pm: Boren Awards

Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to become more proficient in the cultures and languages of world regions critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.  Maximum awards are $20,000 for the Boren Scholarships and $30,000 for the Boren Fellowships. In exchange for funding, recipients commit to working in the federal government for a minimum of one year.

Applications for the Boren Scholarship and Fellowship are now available online at www.borenawards.org. The Boren Fellowships deadline is January 28, 2014 and the Boren Scholarships deadline is February 5, 2014.
