Academic Year in America (AYA) has brought over 35,000 students to the United States from over 35 countries to live with a host family as a member of the family and learn about American culture while sharing their own. Students attend the local high school, have their own spending money, and have full medical insurance coverage. It is a life-changing experience for these students and for their host families. All types of family can host—families with young children, with teens, with no children, empty nesters, single people—all are vetted by AYA and can choose the student that they want to host.
