UNESCO: International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) has released the report Trade in Higher Education: The Role of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). After taking stock of the globalization and internationalization processes of higher education, this report discusses how GATS would apply to higher education, the pros and cons of introducing such agreements, the consequences it would have for a developing country like India, and implications for policy development.
