Seeking Partnerships with Engineering Departments around the World

Since its inception in 2002, the Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) has awarded 50 fellowships to senior scholars of engineering from such countries as Cameroon, Iran, Iraq, and Kyrgyzstan, among others.

SRF helps threatened professors and researchers to relocate to safe academic environments where they may continue their teaching and research. Since the program’s start in 2002, SRF has provided short-term academic fellowships to over 450 scholars from 48 countries at more than 250 host institutions in 40 countries around the world.

SRF is seeking to partner with engineering departments in universities around the world in the following ways:
  1. connecting engineering scholars who have been awarded one-year SRF fellowships to academic institutions that may be interested in hosting these scholars’ SRF fellowships;
  2. referring at-risk engineering scholars to SRF; and
  3. forwarding SRF’s most recent Call for Applications to any colleagues who may be interested
SRF hopes to work together with more departments of engineering to assist threatened scholars of engineering worldwide who are prevented from undertaking their important academic work.
