India and the United States announced eight new partnerships as part of the second round of the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative. A University World News article reports that among those partnerships, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to set up community colleges in India. India has announced it will set up 200 community colleges over the next few years.
