Lee, Associate Professor at the University of Arizona, applies three metaphors—acquisitions, mergers, and synergy—to explore common institutional approaches to internationalization. "More than ever before, international education is being perceived as a major export," observes Lee, who makes the case that "internationalization is not simply the means to something else but a worthy goal in and of itself."
