From the IIE Archives

Carolina Avalos studied historic preservation in Columbia University’s architecture program as a Fulbright student from El Salvador. In the 1989 IIE Annual Report Avalos is quoted as saying, "In El Salvador there is no graduate program in architecture. Many irreplaceable buildings and monuments are on the verge of collapse because there are not enough resources available to preserve them." She is pictured here at the American Museum of Natural History’s Hall of South American Peoples.
