IIE Summit on Generation Study Abroad
October 23-25, 2016 | Washington, DC
Opening Reception at the Historic Blue Room
Since 1930, the Omni Shoreham Hotel has been a cultural, social, and political cornerstone of the city, playing host to presidents, world leaders and inaugural balls. This October, leaders in education, government, business, and journalism will come together for action-oriented discussion on how to ensure international experience is a key part of 21st century education and make study abroad opportunities available to all. The
2016 IIE Summit is part of
IIE’s Generation Study Abroad®, a five-year initiative to double the number of U.S. students studying abroad by the end of the decade. The Summit will continue to push the envelope to change how we think and "do" study abroad as we work together to achieve our ambitious goal of doubling by the end of the decade.
The Omni Shoreham Hotel is a landmark of Washington DC, and has hosted many change-makers throughout its long history. This year's Summit Opening Reception will take place in the hotel's famous Blue Room, which has played host to Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Aretha Franklin, and the Beatles. 100,000 square feet of meeting space and a 40,000 square foot exhibit hall await Summit attendees who will gather together in October to collaborate, exchange, and innovate.
