ILTA contributed to a major victory for terminals in a PFAS firefighting foam bill in the state of Maine in late May, when its written testimony helped sway a legislative committee to exempt oil terminals from the bill. The amended bill must now go to the full legislature for a vote. ILTA is actively monitoring PFAS, both at the federal and state level. The issue is heating up exponentially, with more and more states introducing and passing legislation to ban the forever chemicals in firefighting foam and other applications. Terminals have historically used PFAS foam to put out fires. Please let ILTA know if you have a representative from your company that should receive PFAS-related updates.
