Letter from the ILTA President
As we begin 2021, I want to thank our membership for its support this past year. Even against the backdrop of a pandemic, I am proud of how much our association has accomplished over the past year to bring our members greater value. We have boosted our membership offerings through an enhanced website, greater interaction with members through calls and webinars, a more robust weekly and monthly newsletter, and a new membership platform that allows you to update your information easily.
Issue Update
A piece of legislation critical to the liquid terminal industry was tucked into the omnibus spending and coronavirus relief bill signed into law December 27 by President Trump.
ILTA has been hard at work continuing the push to get an Environmental Protection Agency proposal on in-service tank inspections across the finish line.
After threatening for several days to veto the 5,593-page omnibus bill to fund the government through the 2021 fiscal year and provide coronavirus relief to Americans, President Trump conceded to Congressional and public pressure and signed the legislation on December 27.
The Environmental Protection Agency on December 22 posted a new compliance advisory on Compliance Concerns Associated with Increasing Oil Storage.
President-elect Joe Biden is making it clear that he intends to embark on an ambitious clean-energy and climate agenda, announcing a diverse and high-profile group of energy veterans to tackle the role.

ILTA President Kathryn Clay highlighted the importance of the terminal industry to about 400 participants at an industry roundtable hosted by BIC Magazine.
In this new year, it’s more important than ever to make sure your data is up to date in our membership system.
Because ILTA had to cancel its 2020 conference and trade show, and moved the 2021 event to October, we have tried to find new ways to support our supplier members and exhibitors in getting their goods and services in front of our terminal members.
ILTA significantly boosted its membership offerings in 2020 with an enhanced website, significant interaction with members through calls and webinars, a more robust weekly and monthly newsletter, and a new membership platform that allows you to update your information quickly.
Upcoming Events
As we begin a new year, we hope employees of our terminal members take the opportunity for greater professional and personal growth by joining one of ILTA’s committees, subcommittees, and working groups that serve as a cornerstone for advances in terminal industry safety, environmental compliance and security.
If you have your calendar out, make sure that you’ve added ILTA’s Annual Conference and Trade Show, which ILTA has shifted to October 4-6, 2021. ILTA will hold the conference at the Marriott Marquis in Houston, Texas and the trade show at the nearby George R. Brown Center. For information about reserving a booth or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Meredith DeZemler at mdezemler@ilta.org.
