Recent proposed federal actions related to PFAS restrictions have led to increased interactions between Federal agencies and other groups, including collaborative efforts between the EPA and industry and tension between the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and individual states.

After pivoting to virtual meetings for the past two years, ILTA was excited to bring our EHSS committee back in person March 29-30. The committee met at the historic Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

The ILTA Health and Safety Subcommittee, chaired by IMTT’s Byrne Evans, met on March 30 in New Orleans. Committee members received briefings from Eric Conn of Conn Maciel Carey LLP — a boutique law firm focused on Labor & Employment, Workplace Safety, and Litigation.

ILTA is a supporter of the latest series of tests of alternative, fluorine-free firefighting foams that are candidates for replacing the PFAS-based foams used by the terminal industry for fire suppression for decades.

On March 28, ILTA submitted comments to EPA regarding the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Industrial Stormwater Fact Sheet Series (Environmental Protection Agency Docket No. EPA-HQ-OW-2022-0097).

ILTA’s Gasoline Distribution Working Group continues to prepare for a proposed rule on emissions of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) expected to be released by EPA by June 1, 2022.

The ILTA Security Subcommittee met on March 30 in New Orleans and received briefings from three guest speakers.
