Issue Update
One thing we have all learned during the last two years is that there is no substitute for in-person events. Like everyone, ILTA has moved to embrace on-line video meetings and remote learning technologies, as we continue to look for new and better ways to serve our members.
The EPA is getting closer to publishing a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking designating two PFAS (PFOA and PFOS, both found in firefighting foams) as “hazardous substances” under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
On May 12, ILTA hosted a briefing for Congressional staff on the challenges associated with transitioning the tank terminal industry away from PFAS based firefighting foams to fluorine free alternatives.
On March 28, 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding the Worst-Case Discharge Planning under the Clean Water Act (CWA). The comments are due July 26, 2022.
On April 27, 2022, International Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) testified before the Surface Transportation Board (STB) about the detrimental impacts of Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR) on the Liquid Terminal Industry.
