StaySafeOnline & the National Cyber Security AllianceCybercriminals are taking full advantage of coronavirus fears by running sophisticated online scams that extract users' financial and personal information, according to a recent report by Proofpoint. The scams may be camouflaged as legitimate texts, emails or other social media outlets. Some claim to offer virus awareness or preventative products, while others even go so far as to request donations to a charity. Many people fall prey to these scams because the messages appear to be from a friend, colleague, or trusted organization. The National Cyber Security Alliance urges everyone to be especially watchful for such scams as concern over the virus increases.
