Opening speaker David Houle is a futurist, thinker and speaker. He will discuss emerging global trends and how they could affect the future of the explosives industry. Houle spent more than 20 years in media and entertainment. He has worked at NBC, CBS and was part of the senior executive team that created and launched MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1 and CNN Headline News.
 
Houle has won two Emmys, the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and the Heartland award for Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream. He was also nominated for an Academy Award.
 
He will give his presentation at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at opening session of the 45th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique held in Nashville, Tenn.

The 2019 program includes a dynamic education program featuring technical sessions, poster session and workshops combined with exhibits showcasing the latest technology. In addition to the full conference, the Blasters Weekend Package, commencing on Saturday, Jan. 26, will include the popular Blasters Training Seminar, the Blasters R Us Video Roundup, a regulatory panel discussion and more.
 
Educational programs, materials and merchandise will be sold at the ISEE bookstore, featuring the 18th Edition Blasters’ Handbook, ISEE merchandise and the 45th Annual Conference Proceedings.

More than 30 packages, ranging from vintage belt buckles to getting behind the wheel of a race car, are available for bidding now at the SEE Education Foundation Online Auction.
 
The money raised will benefit the ISEE Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to college students pursuing a technical, undergraduate, masters or doctorate degree in fields related to the commercial explosives industries. To date, the SEE Foundation Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $662,000 to nearly 500 students.
