As the Texas Department of Transportation imploded two spans of the 183 flyover Saturday, a 6-year-old was behind the demolition. Archer Foltermann was deemed the "Master of Demolition" Saturday as he hit the button that brought down the bridge. TxDOT partnered with Make-A-Wish, letting Archer push the button. Archer, a Leukemia survivor, was diagnosed at just 10 months old.
"I blew up a bridge," Archer laughed as he said that's what he would tell all his friends.

Iron ore prices rose for a second day amid demand optimism in the wake of robust output data from China and lower inventory levels. Benchmark 62% Fe fines imported into Northern China (CFR Qingdao) were changing hands for $224.44 a tonne, up 3.2%, according to Fastmarkets MB.

The ISEE Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven B. Shivak, M.S., CAE, as our new executive director. Steve started the position April 26, 2021, becoming ISEE’s third executive director.
Steve is coming from the position of director of membership and Interim Vice President of Conferences and Meetings for the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) – a trade association representing the interests of the asphalt pavement industry with federal officials, departments, and agencies. He was directly responsible for membership, meetings, education and conferences and expositions.

Abstracts for the 48th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique, to be held Jan. 30 - Feb. 2, 2022, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., are now being accepted by the International Society of Explosives Engineers.
Papers addressing all explosives and blasting related topics will be considered. Accepted papers will be scheduled for one of the technical sessions or the Blasters Forum, a multimedia poster event with one-on-one interaction between the author and the audience.
Abstracts of approximately 200-400 words are due by May 28, 2021. Please contact us if you do not receive confirmation within two weeks of submitting your abstract. Chapter sponsored abstracts/papers must be submitted by the deadline.
