The Society of Explosives Engineers (SEE) Education Foundation has opened the 2022 application process for the SEE Scholarship program. In 2022, the SEE is making a total of $95,000 USD available in scholarships to students pursuing degrees related to the explosives industry. The scholarship acceptance period is March 14, 2022, to May 6, 2022. To be eligible, students must be, or plan to be, pursuing a technical, undergraduate, graduate or doctorate degree in a field related to the commercial explosives industries. Students will be assessed on academic and professional achievements, industry goals, a personal challenges narrative and a brief statement of financial need. Each year, the scholarship committee reviews and scores applications from students in a wide range of disciplines and makes awards ranging from $1,500 USD to a top award of $7,500 USD to well-qualified students. The deadline to submit your completed application is May 6, 2022. No extensions will be granted. About the SEE Education Foundation The SEE Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 1996 to serve the long-term education interests of the explosives industry through the development of education and training materials, championing the inclusion of explosives instruction in engineering curricula and awarding scholarships to eligible students.

Here’s your chance to share your techniques, strategies, solutions, product innovations, and research discoveries with your peers. The International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) Conference Program Committee is issuing an industry-wide Call for Abstracts to be presented at the 49th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique and published in the Conference Proceedings.
Ideas should be submitted in the form of a 200-400 word abstract (summary) highlighting the major points of your 8-10 page paper. Abstracts may not be commercial in nature. It should be written so that it makes sense standing on its own and should cover the work done, recommendations made, conclusions drawn as a result of the project, case or study.
Abstracts must be submitted using this submission site by May 13, 2022. There will be no extensions. Student and Chapter-sponsored abstracts must be submitted by the deadline.

About the Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique The 49th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique from Feb. 3-8, 2023, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, is the largest conference in the blasting community, fostering discussions and presentations on the latest technology and techniques.
Presented papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference and at onemine.org, which is home to more than 124,000 articles, technical papers, books in the explosives, mining, minerals and tunneling industries from ISEE, SME, NIOSH, AusIMM, CIM, SAIMM, TMS, IMPC, DFI and IIMP.

It was standing room only for the Ohio Drilling & Blasting Conference held March 16-17, 2022, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Columbus Ohio. More than 100 people were in attendance for a day packed full of presentations from some of the leading experts in the blasting community.
The event kicked off Wednesday evening with food and drinks where once again friends and colleagues were able to meet again in person during the welcome reception.
Thursday’s training program began with opening remarks from Mike Mann, Ohio Department of Natural Resources; and Steve Shivak, ISEE Executive Director. Speakers and topics included Tony Konya, Rock Breakage Theory and Why it Matters in Blast Design; Bob McClure and Eric Wesel, Underground Limestone Blast Optimization; Danny Conn and Keith Best, Kentucky Lock Project Challenges; Neal Lee, Often Overlooked Facets of Drilling and Blast Design; Jason Fort, An Urban Nightmare Blasting Project; Matt Pilz, Pathway to Success: Understanding Airblast and Ground Vibration Issues; and Evan Hagenlock, Quality Control of Bulk Product. Attendees qualified for blasters training recertification hours from several states.
The Ohio Drilling & Blasting Conference is a biennial event that serves as a platform for the exchange of the blasting community’s best practices. The event scheduled for 2021 was postponed until 2022.

The EFEE 11th World Conference on Explosives and Blasting will take place from Sunday, May 15 – Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the MECC in Maastricht, Netherlands, and includes technical presentations, an industry exhibition, technical excursions, educational workshops, welcome drinks reception and gala dinner.
