SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There’s not many bridge projects in Sioux Falls that involve blasting.
But the new 6th Street bridge, which spans over the Big Sioux River in downtown Sioux Falls, is much more than just a bridge project. Along with the construction of a new bridge, which will be called the Unity Bridge, there’s a plethora of underground utility work.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor announced today that its Mine Safety and Health Administration completed impact inspections at 20 mines in 15 states in April 2023 and found 335 violations.
Since Jan. 1, 2023, MSHA’s inspections identified 914 violations, including 257 significant and substantial and 18 unwarrantable failure findings. An S&S violation is one reasonably likely to cause a reasonably serious injury or illness. Violations designated as unwarrantable failures occur when an inspector finds aggravated conduct that constitutes more than ordinary negligence.
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, the Eastern PA Chapter hosted a Membership Meeting at the Copperhead Grille in Bethlehem, PA.
The meeting started with chapter updates and announcements, followed by a vote for new Chapter leadership. Executive Director of the ISEE, Steve Shivak, shared important updates about the organization. Christopher D Catalano, Chief of Explosives and Safety Section at the Department of Environmental Protection, presented on "Building Better Permits in 2023." Christopher also discussed his regular distribution of a newsletter to enhance communication of news and regulations.
