Airlink Granted 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Airlink is pleased to announce it has qualified for tax-exempt status as a charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). The IRS has determined that Airlink is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes; with no part of its earnings benefitting any private shareholder or individual, and that it satisfies all the statutory requirements for exempt status. Section 501(c)(3) organizations are allowed to receive contributions from supporters that, subject to certain limits provided in the Code, are deductible from their taxable income in calculating their annual income tax liabilities. This allows for organizations such as Airlink to attract deductible contributions and thereby provide aid services that might otherwise need to be provided by the government.

"Obtaining 501(c)(3) status is a major accomplishment for Airlink," said Steve Smith, Executive Director, "It opens the doors for us to increase our fundraising activities and solidifies Airlink’s credibility with the public and other entities we want to work with in the future. The new status also gives Airlink the opportunity to be eligible for grants on federal, state and local levels. This entitlement will ensure Airlink’s developmental expansion and will help build its capacity to continue to respond to a wide range of disasters and on a global scale."

Airlink’s Tax Identification Number (EIN) is 37-1710848. The IRS letter granting Airlink its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status is available upon request. Information about donating can be found at Airlink Donations.

About Airlink
Airlink connects commercial airlines and humanitarian aid organizations for air and cargo transportation. Through the Airlink program, we assist disaster response teams with timely mobilization to affected areas. Our program helps disaster victims receive delivery of necessary relief, supplies and the support that ultimately will help them rebuild their lives.  Our reach is global; our air transportation network is constantly expanding as crisis, natural disasters, etc. are on the rise around the world.

Airlink has supported humanitarian initiatives on every continent, including Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, the refugee crisis in Syria, regions in Arkansas and Oklahoma destroyed after tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, the Japan tsunami and the earthquakes in Haiti and in Turkey. Since its inception in 2010, Airlink’s airline partners have flown approximately 3,300 passengers and transported 800,000 lbs. of cargo, equating to almost $1,500,000 in donated transportation.

The program depends on volunteers from the aviation community and new volunteers are always welcome.  For more information, please visit www.airlinkflight.org. Click through to AIRLINK Partners to view a current list of Airline and NGO Participants.
