Careers featured include an aircraft mechanic, an airline dispatcher, an airline operations manager, an aircraft manufacturing specialist, an air safety specialist and many more. Following the first successful toy shipment that was funded by the ISTAT Foundation in December 2013, the remainder of the ISTAT Foundation’s 2013 grant has now been utilized to fund a second shipment of donated toys from children in the UK to the Syrian refugees in the Al Zataari refugee camp in Jordan.
The UNHCR posted a News Release on 2 June 2014 about this latest distribution of toys in which the ISTAT Foundation’s contribution is acknowledged and for the benefit of all Foundation Trustees this release is included here in its entirety:
The ISTAT Foundation has approved a further grant to Aviation Without Borders for further toy shipments during 2014 and already there are more than 8,000 donated items awaiting airfreight to Jordan. These toys donations, which simply would not be possible without the Foundation’s funding, are bringing real pleasure to these poor children who, through no fault of their own, find themselves displaced from their homes and with no personal possessions of any kind.

As most of you know, the ISTAT Foundation has been keenly focused over the past year on ensuring that our membership has a full pipeline of skilled and knowledgeable employees to meet the talent needs in the future.
Early next year, the fruits of those efforts will come to several college campuses in the form of a program developed in cooperation with ISTAT member companies. The program will provide students critical skills and knowledge relevant to our industry. Once students complete these courses of study, we feel confident that they will be better prepared to enter the workforce, ready to make an immediate contribution to their employer.

Quartz
Particularly when making decisions at pivot points—which by definition call for changing the status quo—you need to avoid the trap of risk avoidance and make decisions like a leader. However, our study found that, over time, most people tend to move toward the status quo–with increasingly unsuccessful results.

BRW
Business leaders today face multiple demands on their time as well as their emotional and physical resilience. The imperative to deliver results, drive profits, manage multiple stakeholder interests and do more with less leaves many executives and senior managers burdened. Many feel that the success of a business relies on their efforts alone.

The Huffington Post
There is an under-management epidemic throughout the workplace, at all levels in organizations of all shapes and sizes. So of course most corporate cultures support a hands-off status quo in which hands-off managers often feel like ducks out of water. What can you do about it? Be different.
