Each year, AOC recognizes five young professionals as the year’s "Future 5" – individuals who actively innovate and strive for excellence as they support their respective organizations and build their EMSO careers. In each issue of the Show Daily, we will spotlight one of this year's Future 5.
Today, we recognize Michael DiMeo, who is a lead systems engineer at L3Harris Technologies. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2020 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (and a minor in Electrical Engineering), Michael joined L3Harris, where his first project was developing "a compact EW payload on a Group 2 UAS used in drone swarming applications where we exceeded stakeholder expectations at each flight demonstration." He says that he joined this team at a "fortunate time where the project was still in the design phase. My tasks during this phase involved plenty of cross-functional interfacing, modeling system performance, and leading the development of a CCA essential to the design."
While working at L3Harris Technologies, Michael has furthered his education by pursuing a master's degree in Systems Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology, which he completed earlier this year.
Michael sees many opportunities to grow in the EMSO community. He says, "As I work towards establishing myself as a leader in this space, I continue to expand my network in and outside of L3Harris to discover additional opportunities to further enable our engineers, engage with industry experts to share unfamiliar use cases and build a path for what we have today to feed into a larger digital thread."
Michael also will be participating in the technical program during the symposium this week. He will deliver a presentation on the topic, "Addressing the Complexities of Electronic Warfare for Future Operating Environments," in the Potomac Ballroom B on Monday, Dec. 11 from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM.
