Ed Session Spotlight

Establishing Event Categories: Free vs. Chargeable

Speaker: Erin Dayharsh Farrell, Senior Associate Director of the Campus Center and Event Services, University of Massachusetts Boston

Does your campus have established rate categories that reflect your priorities around university space and resources? This session will provide both tools and examples to help you establish event categories, ensuring space and resources are first and foremost for university-initiated activities, followed by chargeable activities involving partners or external organizations.

Auxiliary services professionals managing both university space and resources will find this session appealing as they are regularly making decisions regarding who has access to space/equipment/staff-time, and the priority for access to these resources. Attendees will be presented with event and rate categories gathered from colleges and universities across the U.S. They will learn both the benefits and risks associated with various types of rate categories, and how clear and well-defined space use criteria help to manage resources efficiently and effectively.
