E. Anne Wachtmeister earned an undergraduate degree at Northeastern University in Boston, and then went on to earn her law degree from the University of New Hampshire’s School of Law. As an attorney, Wachtmeister represented Native Americans in subsistence rights cases. As a public defender in Boston, she specialized in representing youth in serious felony matters. Seeking a more proactive role in the lives of young people, Wachtmeister earned her master’s degree in education from Harvard University and transitioned into counseling and teaching. As the director of the Peer Mediation Program at The English High School/Boston and then as the student services coordinator at Boston International High School, Wachtmeister joined fellow faculty members in leading transformative service learning trips with her students to destinations both nationally and abroad. Inspired by her students and their passion for global experiences and community service, Wachtmeister developed Caribbean Connections and Discovery Grove, an experiential learning program and eco-retreat located on St. Croix, an island in the US Virgin Islands. What drew her to NACAS is a shared belief that the foundation of creating relevant professional development and certification opportunities for our current and potential members is by providing quality education experiences that expand knowledge and build connections that count, both personal and professional. |
