Monthly Feature
In this unprecedented time for our country and the world, we are at the helm of what is perhaps the greatest public health issue we’ve seen in a century. In higher education, we are all faced with an enormous task: keeping our campus communities safe.
One great thing about being a member of a professional association is that a majority of the benefits are availiable virtually. You don't even need to leave your couch to access a wide range of tools and resources to assist with your day-to-day operations, as well as with future forecasting and addressing the big issues facing our industry.
As you are dealing with the fallout of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the coming weeks, we encourage you to continue to make use of the NACAS Marketplace for resources, NACAS Lounge for peer-to-peer advice, and our Online Education options. This is an ever-evolving issue and we are working around the clock to provide you with the the most up-to-date tools and resources that can guide your decision-making.
If you have any tips or best practices surrounding the coronavirus response that you would like to share with NACAS and your fellow auxiliary services professionals, please submit those to submissions@nacas.org. We are most successful as an industry when we are united in helping each other.
Current Events
According to NACAS Research, students define success by personal traits such as being committed, working hard, and being ambitious. Most recently, our studies show that students have defined success as “happiness” and “feeling fulfilled.” Further, 2019 data indicates that students rank university mental and physical health services amongst the top three most important factors needed critical to achieving success.
PROMPT: How do auxiliary services impact students’ holistic wellbeing? Please provide specific examples of how auxiliary services can help improve the lives of students on your campus.
DEADLINE: April 1, 2020
To prepare, be sure to add this email to your contacts to ensure your survey link does not get sent to your spam folder: research@vaultconsulting.com. An Excel version of the survey will be available to download when you receive your unique survey link. Use this tool to prepare and streamline data collection amongst your campus colleagues. Be sure to submit your institution’s survey by May 22.
Making the Connection
As NACAS continues to monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we wanted to share the recording of the virtual roundtable that was held last week, “Emergency Preparedness and COVID-19 in Higher Ed.” We hope this information will be valuable for you in exploring options for communication, tone, and business continuity on your campuses.
NACAS News
We know this is a hard time for our members, business partners, and the students we serve. We are doing our part to provide information and resources to help you navigate this unfamiliar period. Check out our COVID-19 archive page to view all of our updates concerning the virus, including letters from our CEO, event information, useful resources and tools, and educational opportunities that can help you prepare for the future.
NACAS Foundation
The NACAS Foundation is pleased to sponsor the Hassmiller CASP Scholarship. In his final months as the NACAS CEO, Dr. Bob Hassmiller generously donated funds that will provide scholarship opportunities for worthy CASP candidates. The Hassmiller CASP Scholarship is Dr. Bob’s acknowledgment and appreciation of the NACAS membership for ten wonderful years as the CEO. This scholarship opportunity also acknowledges the difficult financial time for higher education and the importance of CASP to the future of higher education.
Approved applicants will receive $650 to cover the cost of the application fee OR travel costs associated with taking the exam.
