The deadline for our Benchmarking data collection period is quickly approaching! Over a year into the pandemic, we are hoping to demonstrate the impact this global crisis has had, not only on our industry but on higher education as a whole. The Benchmarking dashboard has been one of the most highly requested tools by our members – but we can’t provide the data without your help.
We encourage you to work swiftly with other departments to complete, at a minimum, the Classification, Balance Sheet, and at least one of the specific auxiliary service sections. You should have received an invitation to complete the survey from our partners at Vault Consulting. If you have any questions about the data, survey, or benchmarking metrics, please reach out directly to Vault at lcox@vaultconsulting.com.

CASP, which stands for Certified Auxiliary Services Professional, is the only benchmark certification that measures the needed competencies of college and university executives who oversee multiple auxiliary services. This certification offers an accelerated track to obtain necessary cross-functional knowledge and fills competency gaps to build confidence in new leaders and in those who hire them.
“Congratulations to all new recipients of the CASP certification,” said Ben Perlman, CASP, Director of the Student Center at Emory University and Chair of the NACAS Certification Committee. “This accomplishment is sure to bring long-term value, both to their careers and the institutions they serve.”

As a leader who oversees all auxiliary services at your institution, you may feel on an island and unable to tap into others at your school for the type of sound advice you seek. Fortunately NACAS has you covered. The NACAS Lounge is an online community designed for you. A social network for leaders operating at your level. The perfect place for you to ask questions, receive feedback, share resources, and find ideas. Here is an example of a recent lively conversation in the Lounge:
Community Colleges and Managing Auxiliary Services Through COVID-19
"Hello and happy new year! I oversee many auxiliary services departments (Dining Services, College Store, Printing and Mailroom Services as well as a swimming/recreational facility) at a two-year college where there is no on-campus housing. Our bookstore has transitioned into solely online sales and the printshop/mailroom have very limited hours due to our campus being closed to employees, with the exception of essential staff. All other service areas are completely closed.
Is there anyone else who works for a community college? If so, I would love to know what are some of the things your organization is currently doing to keep auxiliary services afloat as I am looking for refreshing ideas to introduce to my campus. In addition to that, if your campus is not open, what plans do you have to service smaller amounts of staff and students once it re-opens? I look forward to replies."
