Sleepwear and Robes ... AND Trivia!
KCMPI continues to partner with Rose Brooks to break the cycle of domestic violence.
Flashback to November 14, 2014 ... we were at the Hilton KCI hosting the KCMPI Annual Trivia Night. We had a great night of food, fun and trivia. More importantly, on this particular evening the dedicated KCMPI members started by visiting the donation table dropping off sleepwear and robes. At different times throughout the 2014-2015 year, KCMPI has committed to providing Rose Brooks with the different items needed for the mothers, children and pets who escape domestic violence empty-handed. The sleepwear and robes will have quite a journey over the next couple of weeks before they will become gifts. That night we collected more than 40 sleepwear/robe items!! And here is how these items will turn into gifts for these very deserving moms and kids ...
Rose Brooks operates a storefront (picture 1) at the Ward Parkway Mall. As you will see by picture (2), they set the front of the store up as a receiving area. Behind the wall of colorful holiday paper, you will see picture (3). I would call this the "hidden treasure." What you see in this picture are dryer boxes (picture 4) lined up and labeled by category. As donations are dropped off the Rose Brook volunteers easily sort them. It was really an amazing experience to see what is behind the scenes. As the sign says behind the donation table, "every child deserves a special and memorable holiday" ... and on KCMPI’s 2014 Trivia Night, we did something to make that wish come true! Thank you to all!
