Hello and welcome to KCMPI’s Newsletter.

My year-and-a-half of being your President is coming to an end, and what a 1 ½ yr. term it has been.  I’ve been very honored to serve as the President of this great chapter, and I’m looking forward to my term as Immediate Past-President starting in July.  I have about 2.5 months left in my current position and I want you to know that your entire Board of Directors is continuing to work diligently to perform the duties you elected us to complete. You have a terrific current Board, and the new Board taking over in July will be full of energy and will continue the legacy of keeping KCMPI in the forefront of the Hospitality industry.

We have just completed one of the most successful PEC in years, and I extend a big thank you to the Leads Sarah Morrissey and Lynn Gross, the VP of Education Shari Hockenbery, and all the others that worked so diligently on this great education program. We had one of the largest registration numbers we have ever had, and the speakers were full of knowledge and encouragement.

KCMPI has two events left in this term and I want to encourage you to register for both.  First coming on May 16 at the Johnson County Community College will be our Catering & Restaurant Showcase and it will have an educational component with CEUs available. You don’t want to miss this event. Then to finish up this term, on June 16 at Harrah’s North Casino will be our Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. This will be a good time to say good-bye to the current Board and welcome in the new Board of 2016-17. A wonderful night is planned!

Now, it is time to say good-bye to my privilege of serving as your President. The time has really flown by, full of challenges, full of emails, full of fires to put out, and some to light, but mostly full of fond memories. From many of the Past Presidents sending me words of encouragement when I took office early, from all the wonderful volunteers that have worked so hard on each event, from the entire Board of Directors, from our new Chapter Administrator Aesha Beattle, you all have been so kind and easy to have worked for. The position of President is one of leadership and service, and at the end of my term I know I can look back and embrace the fact that I did the best I could, and that I had so much help all along the way.

As I prepare to step away from this office I want to say THANK YOU KCMPI for allowing me to serve you. It has been an honor!
