We're Not Alone

 

A YouTube video titled Sh*t Meetings Planner Say, put together by Leading Authorities was recently making the rounds on social media. It made me laugh and caused me to pause and remember I’m not alone in this crazy life I lead as a meeting planner.

I work in a very small office and I’m the only meeting planner. I occasionally drop acronyms that my coworkers have no understanding of, they are amused by all my binders, they don’t understand when I’m going crazy in the back of the room trying to get the speaker to wrap things up, and they don’t understand why doors must remain closed before an event and so on and so on.

I sometimes get so wrapped up in what I have to do in my position for my own company, that I forget there are others, just like me running around saying crazy things only meeting planners and those in the industry can understand or appreciate.

That’s where KCMPI and this newsletter and attending industry events has kept me from losing my mind. If you haven’t attended a KCMPI or other industry event, gotten involved on a committee or volunteered some time to help other planners – now is the time to do it!

We should all remember, we’re not alone and we need to share our experiences with each other.
