Region 3

In May, VSHE put on its Annual Conference and I visited and gave three different sessions on multiple topics.(ASHE, update, Compliance 101, and Energy Management 101) There were some great updates from George Mills and others as well.

In May THEA (Tennessee Healthcare Engineering Association) held its 1st annual conference in beautiful Pickwick Landing State Park. We had several great speakers and got reacquainted with some existing vendor partners and met some new ones as well.

Currently I am scheduled to speak at the KSHE 2017 Healthcare Coalition Conference in September. You folks always put on a great show and I am excited to be able to attend again before my term ends.

ASHE PDC Summit

The 2017 PDC Summit offered programs that ranged from routine health care regulatory updates to new concepts on how design can positively affect the patient experience. The PDC Summit was well attended, and many session recordings are available for purchase at ashe.digitellinc.com/ashe.

Mark your calendars now for next year’s PDC Summit. It is close to us! The 2018 PDC Summit will take place March 25-28, 2018, in Nashville, TN.

ASHE Annual Conference

Just a friendly reminder that the 54th ASHE Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition will be held in Indianapolis August 6-9, 2017. I hope to see you there.

ASHE Board Update

The ASHE Board of Directors met on April 22, 2017, in Itasca, Illinois.

The board reviewed activities of the Member Value, Succession Planning and Sustainability committees. Board members also discussed how the society will reach out and build relationships with organizations with mutual objectives in the field of health care facility management.

The ASHE Healthcare Executive Leadership Council (HELC) reported to the board on its activities. The HELC is a group of C-Level health care executives who support the mission and vision of ASHE and have volunteered to work towards outcomes that will benefit not only the health care facility management field, but health care overall. The HELC will be giving a session at this year’s Annual Conference in Indianapolis.

ASHE is creating several new resources for members. A new finance and budgeting online education course is now available, and a leadership skills course will be held as a pre-conference program ahead of the ASHE Annual Conference. Members can use these programs to help develop in their careers. ASHE is also working on a multi-year project with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that will create a publication showing facility managers how to use the physical environment to help prevent infections.

I hope to see you in Indianapolis!
