Hello Kentucky!

If you have lived in the Commonwealth for any length of time, you know that a long - drawn out winter cuts our springtime short as we move abruptly into summer. If you do not believe me, look at your HVAC Technicians. They are most likely looking tired and frazzled! However, on the bright side, you had extra time to service chillers, cooling towers, pumps and other cooling system components. Those of you who were able to take advantage of this extra time should see the payback this year.
This past week, I received notification from our friends at ASHE, that the Kentucky Society for Healthcare Engineers has once again been awarded the PLATINUM ELITE CHAPTER AWARD! This is exciting news for your Board of Directors…. but what does this mean to you? In order for your KSHE Chapter to be considered for this Top National Award, KSHE must fulfill many obligations. Two of these requirements are: KSHE is required to provide a minimum of 24 hours of educational programs to its membership and have strong statewide participation in the Energy Star – Energy 2 Care program. I am proud to say that KSHE continues to be a national leader in education and sets the standard for others to follow. We currently have over 25% of our hospitals participating in the Energy 2 Care program! This means you have direct access to some of the most up to date and progressive educational programs offered. You also have a commonwealth heavily involved in energy management with many available resources to help you manage your facility utility usage / spend. In this ever-challenging world of healthcare facility management, these two programs alone will help you gain the knowledge, resources and support to succeed.
Obviously, you can tell I am very proud of our Chapter and its success as you should be too. This Award is the direct result of your hard work and dedication to improving Healthcare Facility Management across our wonderful Commonwealth.
Proudly,
Jack Merrill
