Happy New Year’s KSHE Members,
Your KSHE Board met in December for the annual planning meeting. Following is a list of educational offerings and goals for 2019:
Healthcare Facilities Technician Webinars, January 17/February 14, 2019– KSHE sponsored webinar in support for launching a national academic credential for healthcare facility technicians. The objective of these webinars are to explain the HFT credential, answer questions, and seek commitment to launch the program Fall 2019.
CHC, April/September/December – The three Certified Healthcare Contractor sessions will be held in Louisville, Lexington, and Ashland to support and promote contractor credentialing.
CHFM Prep, May – It has been a while since we have brought this very popular ASHE CHFM training to our state. Please join many of your peers as they prepare for the nationally recognized Certified Healthcare Facility Manager credential.
Monthly Training Lunch & Learn Webinars – Beginning in June, KSHE will be offering free training webinars to address codes, compliance, operations, and many other relevant and hot topics. Our goals is to develop an ongoing continuous education that not only brings great education but much needed continuing education units. Please direct any topics or presentations that you think would benefit and support the effort.
Tool Box Training - 2 Sessions – Last year, KSHE delivered training at several member hospitals for technicians. The training was well received. This year the goal is to schedule at least two sessions at member hospitals while also inviting technicians from other facilities in the area. If your facility would be interested in hosting a tool box session, please contact me for coordination.
Annual Conference Education – To be held in Louisville this year, in addition to our many great speakers, we will again bring Tool Belt Training and Emergency Management education to the Healthcare Coalition Conference. The Tool Belt Training was attended in big numbers with great feedback. The Emergency Management sessions also received very positive feedback and provided excellent subject matter.
As you can see by the KSHE educational goals, your leadership is very committed to providing its members valuable and timely training. On a related note, there was a request for Safety Officer training (similar to CHFM) brought to our attention. If you could let me know if this would be interested, we might be able to squeeze this in this year if we know early enough. If not and if there is support, we can certainly put it on our calendar for 2020!
The Very Best 2019 to you!
