I saw a Facebook post this morning that has me in stitches and thought I would share it with you. It comes from a non-profit organization that I regularly follow that exists to strengthen men and that calls them to be excellent fathers, husbands, and leaders in their families – “Rough Cut Men.” Look them up. Here’s what the post said: “I GREW UP WITH BOB HOPE, STEVE JOBS & JOHNNY CASH. NOW THERE’S NO JOBS, NO CASH AND NO HOPE. PLEASE DON’T LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO KEVIN BACON!“

It reminded me of the absolute need for LEADERS to keep “first things first” and in perspective and to take time out to LAUGH and to provide moments of levity for your team and your family. Really, there’s enough “junk” along with the seriousness going on in 2020 to keep us on edge, maybe terrified. Please everyone, take a breath. Reach out to someone in need; someone that may be shaken by what is going on in our country and in our world. Become the “steadying hand” on the shoulder where it is needed. And please…DON’T LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO KEVIN BACON!

There is a lot going on in the KSHE universe this summer. The 2020 Healthcare Coalition Conference is going VIRTUAL and will be held October 20-22. Sponsor & Exhibitor information will be posted soon on the website plus there will be a couple of webinars to explain what a Virtual Conference will look like and how it works. Be sure and check your email regularly for upcoming announcements. Also, mark your calendar for Friday, July 17 – 10:00 AM CDT/11:00 AM EDT. You won’t want to miss this collaborative webinar moderated by our own VP of Education Mike Canales and sponsored by KSHE, TSHE (Tri-State Society of Healthcare Engineers), ISHE (Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineers), and NOSHE (Northern Ohio Society for Healthcare Engineering). The seminar “The Built Environment: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going” will include presentations by panelists from these ASHE Region 3 & Region 5 Chapters plus a presentation by Doug Erickson, CEO of the Facility Guidelines Institute, on how the current pandemic is impacting what the built environment is going to look like in the future. You will not want to miss this free webinar. You will all be receiving an email announcement and registration information in a future email.

Finally, KSHE Board Elections for the 2021-2022 term are coming this fall. Are you ready to promote yourself and your career by “stepping up?” Read President-Elect Martin Wheatley’s article below for information about how to get involved.

Stay cool, stay safe, and wear a mask (because you care).
