Greetings KSHE Members,
Where has the year gone! As we enter the second half of 2021, your KSHE board and education committee have been at work to deliver valuable and timely education to you, our members. The second half of the year will see a ramping up of education opportunities. Following are some examples:
September 27th – KSHE Certified Healthcare Contractor to be held in Owensboro a day ahead of the main conference. This is a face-to-face event.
September 28 & 29th – The annual KSHE Healthcare Coalition Conference. It is going to be great to get together again in Owensboro for education, networking, and engaging solutions at the trade show!
October (day TBD) – Webinar update on Joint Commission survey of Business Occupancies beginning in 2022.
Face-to-Face Training at Your Facility – In my role on the KSHE Board and OCTC/HFL/HFT Program Director, it is my goal to deliver as many no-cost face-to-face training sessions as possible. I hope to visit every healthcare facility in Kentucky over the next year or two. Sessions at Hardin Memorial, UK Health, and Baptist Health Richmond are in progress. If your organization is interested in a no-cost lunch and learn, please reach out to me and I will send you a list of over 30 training sessions to choose from.
Safe Day One – Comprehensive orientation for contractors and healthcare technicians was updated earlier this year to include a module on working in healthcare during a pandemic. Safe Day One continues to set the pace for the healthcare industry nationally and has gained even greater support and involvement from ASHE.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
ASHE Annual Conference – Nashville, TN – August 8 – 11, 2021.
KY Work Ready Scholarship – Any adult in KY who has not earned a previous degree and who enrolls in a qualifying program may receive two years (four semesters) of tuition. There is no income limit for this scholarship. The OCTC HFL program qualifies. Classes start August 16!
Hope to see many of you at the Healthcare Coalition Conference!
Best,
Mike, VP KSHE Education – mike.canales@kctcs.edu
