President's Message
It’s been six days since our 2019 Healthcare Coalition Conference in Louisville ended. What an awesome, exciting, and exhausting conference. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Our keynote speaker, former Utah Jazz star Mr. Thurl Bailey, set the tone for the conference with his “I See Potential in You” leadership training. Thurl stayed around after his presentation until every hand was shaken, every photo was taken, and every question was answered. What a gentleman! ESPN has honored Thurl and his 1983 NC State Championship team with one of their "30 for 30" specials. Take a look when you have a chance.
Education and Training
Greetings KSHE Members,
Hard to believe it is fall already and another successful HCC is in the books! From CHFM to CHC to Toolbox to Emergency Management to a fantastic key note speaker, and many other quality programming and trade show events, this year’s conference stands as another incredible value for you as KSHE members. If you were unable to attend the conference this year, we hope you are making plans and are able to join us in Owensboro next year. That being said, we still have lots of educational opportunities left this year to bring value to your membership!
The orientation of technicians, outside vendors and contractors in healthcare is not only a safety issue, it is required for accreditation with organizations such as The Joint Commission. Safe Day One is an online healthcare facilities orientation & safety training. It’s not enough to be safe one day; we must be safe day one.

Annually ASHE hosts a competition among hospitals and other healthcare facilities to save energy and protect the climate, known as Energy to Care. To create local interest, KSHE has created its own competition, The Energy Derby, to increase efforts in hospitals statewide to reduce excessive energy use. Energy reduction is driven through improvements in energy efficiency with help from KSHE, ASHE, and the Energy to Care program. The member facilities that shed the most energy consumption will be recognized.
In 2019, KSHE is offering energy benchmarking support and a free energy assessment to members to assist facilities that may be limited on resources. Click here to request KSHE help to benchmark your member facility, update your data, and help you take home the prize! Health Facilities Management
