U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Since construction of the Louisville VA Medical Center began in December 2021, more than 70,000 cubic yards of earth materials have been reused in multiple ways. “Where those driving by may see piles of dirt and rock, we have seen valuable material that can be repurposed as we progress with construction activities for the hospital and other structures on the site,” said Carl Lindsay, lead quality assurance representative on the project. KSHE Certified Healthcare Contractor – Delivered since 2006, The KSHE CHC has established a best practice when it comes to training contractors that work in healthcare. The growing focus on construction in healthcare, places healthcare in Kentucky ahead of nearly every chapter nationally. The training that goes along with the exam is delivered both virtually and in-person three times a year. OCTC Healthcare Facilities Leadership Program – The HFL program out of Owensboro was supported by KHA, KSHE, and ASHE funds back in 2012. The program is in its ninth year and has expanded to developmental courses and credentials for technicians and leadership. As the only academic program nationally, the HFL program is delivering on establishing a recruitment, retention, advancement, and succession planning tool for many hospitals in Kentucky.
