KSHE Update

The Annual ASHE Conference, held in Indianapolis earlier this month, saw more than 4,000 people in attendance. KSHE had strong representation with more members present than I have ever witnessed at one of these events. On behalf of KSHE, I formally accepted the Platinum Elite Chapter Award which you all made possible with your support of the Energy to Care program. I was honored to address the other Chapters in our Region and share the awesome, progressive programs Kentucky has developed and initiated. The members of KSHE should be very proud that Kentucky leads the Nation on several fronts. I can honestly say from my heart that I am very proud and thankful for the opportunity to serve you and to work with such a dynamic Board who are dedicated to improving Healthcare.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Department of Public Health officially designated Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center a Level IV Trauma Center. The medical center can provide initial care and stabilization of traumatic injuries while arranging transfer to a higher level of trauma care.

American Society for Healthcare Engineering
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has dropped its proposal to make survey reports and plans of corrections from accrediting organizations publicly available online. CMS said in a final rule published this month that it will not require public posting of survey reports.

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association
ASHE has published a new monograph to show facility leaders how to conduct succession planning and develop their own personal career path. The monograph was available at the ASHE Annual Conference onsite bookstore and is now available as a free PDF download for ASHE members.

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association
ASHE is developing resources to help members comply with new door inspection requirements. A new webpage shows existing resources on this topic and allows members to sign up to be notified when new resources are available. Resources currently in development include a door inspection and maintenance book and a new hosted education program that will bring door inspection training on site to health facilities and chapters.
