Effective June 20, the Sexton Group Ltd. announced its departure from the ILDC buying group.

The Sexton Group Ltd. is one of Canada’s largest purchasers of hardline and building material products and is actively working with its suppliers to build upon a successful track record of market share growth in key product categories.

"We understand that our departure from ILDC represents a large and sudden change and are appreciative that our suppliers have rallied around with effective programs for the remainder of 2012. Our members will not take a step back on any major LBM or Hardlines program." states Steve Buckle, general manager of the Sexton Group Ltd.

The Sexton members have benefited greatly over the previous four years. However, a lot has changed; the Sexton Group has grown substantially, and it was time to address some challenges its members were having with some aspects of previous supplier agreements.

"Specifically," says Steve, "Sexton members need choice of vendors within a category and require easy-to-understand programs and market competitive pricing. They have asked for stability and consistency of product supply, rather than constantly changing suppliers based strictly on price. This is exactly what we intend to give them."

In a separate release, Sexton and two partners announced the formation of BYCO, a buying group focused on gypsum, insulation and steel framing products.
