Annual Student Chapter Summit a resounding success

Seventy attendees had the opportunity to learn about potential career opportunities in the industry; hear resume and interview do’s and don’ts from the HR team at AECON; see innovative technologies coming down the line by Victaulic, Trimble and Hilti; and enjoy sessions on modular construction and integrated community energy and harvesting systems.

This year’s summit also featured two amazing site visits. Students had the opportunity to visit a decommissioned power plant at Niagara Falls as well as Great Wolf Lodge where they got a firsthand look at the inner workings of the water filtration system.

Day two started off with a keynote address from MCAC favourite, Chris Cummins. Chris’s message of seize the day is never disappointing and leaves students with an impactful message.

Following Chris, former chapter members returned to enlighten the students on how their chapter participation led them to their career choices and how they have flourished in the mechanical contracting industry.

Last, and very not least, was the final student chapter competition. Students were given scenarios that they had to solve dealing with the installation of a new ride at Great Wolf Lodge.

Each team presented to contractors and had to answer some pretty tough on the spot questions. Congratulations go out to all students on a job well done!
