Despite hosting a virtual event for the first time, the MCA Canada Student Chapter Summit hosted a record number of registrants, including students from five different schools across Canada (Conestoga College, McMaster University, Ryerson University, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Manitoba).Sponsored by Servco Canada and Victaulic, the afternoon program provided a great overview of opportunities in the mechanical contracting sector in Canada.
“As always, the Student Chapter Summit remains a very rewarding event for the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada,” said Tania Johnston, MCA Canada CEO. “It is always great to talk to the next generation of leaders in our industry, and to showcase the types of opportunities available to them. I am confident that the challenges our industry faces in the future will be met!”
The event kicked off with a presentation from Professor Timothy Wentz, who discussed the mechanical contracting sector and the Top 10 reasons students should consider a career in the sector. Following his presentations, students were given a presentation on the Kitimat LNG project in northern British Columbia from the team at LNG Canada and JGC Fluor JV.
