Join us for a special webinar presneted by NRCan on sizing and selecting air-source heat pump systems.
Heat pumps systems are becoming an increasingly popular energy-efficient solution for heating and cooling Canadian homes. To ensure optimal system performance and maintain adequate comfort levels in a home, it is important to select and ultimately install the right size heat pump.
An oversized unit will cycle frequently, leading to reduced efficiency and discomfort. Purchasing and operating costs will also be higher. Conversely, an undersized unit will not be able to meet the desired heating loads at colder temperatures and will result in increased use of back-up or auxiliary heating systems. A properly sized system will strike the right balance between meeting the desired heating loads and maintaining comfort conditions at a wide range of ambient temperature conditions. The right sized heat pump will use less energy, while maintaining the required comfort levels.
Natural Resources Canada has developed a package of materials related to air source heat pump (ASHP) sizing and selection, intended for use by mechanical system designers and renovation contractors. These materials are designed to assist with sizing and selecting ASHPs for Canadian climates, in both new and existing (retrofit) residential applications.
Please join us on a webinar where we will introduce the tool and provide a walk-through example, followed by a question and answer period.
