The coronavirus pandemic is forcing us to re-evaluate so much of our lives and what is truly important to us. It is imperative that all of us focus on our own personal health and well-being. And contrary to how we might feel, we are NOT powerless. The more proactive we act individually and collectively the more empowered we become.

This webinar, which is sponsored by the Women in Mechanical Construction initiative, will give simple strategies on how to nourish and support your mental and emotional health and will provide practical tools and guidelines to help you strike a healthy work-life balance.

Tickets are $25 each, and proceeds from the webinar will go toward a new scholarship for a female apprentice.

Join us on June 24 from noon to 1 p.m. ET.

Heat pumps systems are becoming an increasingly popular energy-efficient solution for heating and cooling Canadian homes. To ensure optimal system performance and maintain adequate comfort levels in a home, it is important to select and ultimately install the right size heat pump.

An oversized unit will cycle frequently, leading to reduced efficiency and discomfort. Purchasing and operating costs will also be higher. Conversely, an undersized unit will not be able to meet the desired heating loads at colder temperatures and will result in increased use of back-up or auxiliary heating systems. A properly sized system will strike the right balance between meeting the desired heating loads and maintaining comfort conditions at a wide range of ambient temperature conditions.  The right sized heat pump will use less energy, while maintaining the required comfort levels.

Natural Resources Canada has developed a package of materials related to air source heat pump (ASHP) sizing and selection, intended for use by mechanical system designers and renovation contractors. These materials are designed to assist with sizing and selecting ASHPs for Canadian climates, in both new and existing (retrofit) residential applications.

Please join us on a webinar where we will introduce the tool and provide a walk-through example, followed by a question and answer period.

Register for only one of the following – the sessions are identical.

On May 7, a major cyber attack shut down a pipeline system carrying almost half the fuel used on the U.S. east coast for five days. This led to widespread fuel shortages and panic-buying as Virginia, North Carolina and Florida declared a state of emergency. The attack on Colonial Pipeline shows how vulnerable critical infrastructure is as cyber security threats increase.
