December 12 at King and Bannatyne marked MCAM's second-annual Scotch Tasting Night with presenting sponsor Robinson Supply. The night featured Paul Shack from Nortech to present information as it pertains to BIM, aka building information modelling.
BIM is a collaborative process for creating, gathering and sharing building information that starts before design and continues through the lifecycle of a built asset.
Paul Shack is a founding member of the Winnipeg BIM community and actively promotes 3D technology within the construction industry. He went into detail with over 35 attendees under 40 years of age on the topic "The Next Generation."
Roger Phaneuf, former MCAM president, stated, "Scotch Tasting Night is a great event and one that allows for the up-and-coming leaders in the industry to network and learn from each other. I look forward to this event every year and am happy to be part of it"
After the presentation, the group was invited to sample exotic scotches from around the world with Darren Raeside, a sommelier has travelled as far as Ireland to learn and obtain all kinds of facts and tips on various scotches. A delicious dinner was served from King & Bannatyne afterwards.
